Doug Abrams has been a practicing trial lawyer for more than 30 years. Doug is a partner in the firm of Abrams & Abrams, P.A. in Raleigh, North Carolina. Doug currently represents plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury cases, tractor trailer wrecks, plant explosions and fire cases, products liability or defective products cases, fifteen passenger van rollover cases, business tort litigation, and other tort cases.

Doug has given numerous lectures and has written extensively on the subject of personal injury and tort law. Doug served as the President of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers (now the North Carolina Advocates for Justice) for 1995-1996 and has remained on the Board of NCAJ in numerous capacities both before and after that time.  He currently serves on the Executive Committee of NCAJ.   Doug has also been active in the American Association for Justice and currently serves on their Board of Governors. Doug has been selected for inclusion in a leading publication entitled The Best Lawyers in America, as well as the publication Super Lawyers.

In addition to severe personal injury cases involving trucks and tractor trailers and other heavy equipment vehicles, and business tort cases, presently, Doug is the lead counsel for over twenty-five employees injured in the explosion and fire at the ConAgra Foods facility in Garner, North Carolina.  He served as lead counsel for the employees injured or killed in the explosion of the West Pharmaceuticals plant in Kinston, North Carolina.

Doug graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in 1976 and from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1979.  Doug grew up in Greenville, South Carolina in a family of lawyers. Doug's father was a trial lawyer in Greenville, South Carolina. Doug has a brother and sister who are lawyers. Margaret Abrams, Doug's wife, is also a lawyer and she practices in the firm of Abrams & Abrams, P.A. They have been joined in their practice by the eldest of their four sons, Noah Abrams.

In the community, Doug has coached all four of his sons in their various sports activities, including basketball, baseball, and soccer.  He is an avid supporter of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes.  He is also the owner of an independent music store, Indoor Storm, and enjoys playing the guitar and off-shore fishing with his sons.  Doug has been a long-time member of Temple Beth Or.
